Prayer

The idea has been percolating in the back of my mind for some time. I have wanted a way to minister for Christ right here in the place where Laura and I live.

As a former pastor and Christian school teacher/principal, I thought that maybe I could serve my immediate community as a chaplain. That is, I could provide pastoral services for people who have no pastor, or whose pastor is unavailable.

This would involve a ministry of prayer, counseling and teaching people what God's Word says about how to get along in His world. That may be more than a lot of my neighbors want right now, but it all starts with prayer.

I have started taking daily walks, Monday to Friday, and as I walk, I pray for each household that I see and pass along with a few that I don't. I pray for the people who live there that the peace and grace of Christ will rest upon each home.

I also plead with God for His grace upon the children and grandchildren  that may be represented by those families, as well. I believe that God answers prayer, and that He will hear me on behalf of my neighbors.

As long as I'm praying for my neighbors, I thought that I should provide a way that they can contact me with their prayer requests. That's one major purpose for this page.

If you want me to pray for some specific need or circumstance in your life, you can send me an email at:
gravelbelly@gmail.com
I will pray for your request daily for one week, and I will hold your requests in strictest confidence.

The other major purpose for this page is to enlist you to commit to prayer for our community. (See the blog post entitled "Will You Join Me in Prayer for Possum Kingdom?"
