Reaching Outside the Box

David Watson, a failed missionary started praying when he arrived in the most difficult place for Christian ministry in India. Within 15 years, God had answered his prayers with 80,000 churches planted. The churches average about 60 members.

Would God answer our prayers in such a way in Possum Kingdom? He would if we would be willing to reach outside the box. Christians need to take Gospel words and Gospel deeds to their community, and not simply expect members of the community to visit our churches.

I want to be the kind of Christian who reaches outside the box. I want to know who has needs, who's hurting, who needs help. I want to pray for you, but also, in the name of my Lord, I also want to help, if I can.

I know there are fellow believers around me who feel the same way. Maybe we should think of ourselves as Outside-the-Box disciples.

Sunday

Will You Join Me in Prayer for Possum Kingdom?

Please commit to pray for one minute a day for the teenagers in Possum Kingdom for one month.

Teenagers who live in Possum Kingdom have major problems. Are you willing to pray for 20 seconds a day for each of two major problems, plus the solution? That won't ruin your day. You can afford 60 seconds, right? (Of course, you can pray longer if you choose to on any day.) Here is a list of potential problems to choose from.
Addictive drugs & alcohol
Illiteracy
Church dropouts
Broken families
Unmarried teenage pregnancies
School Bullying
There is a way to deal with all of these:

Christian Revival

Are you willing to commit to praying to overcome two of these problems by means of the third? Every community needs a revival, no matter what the problems are. God wants us to pray more than once for things that are worth praying for . . . or against.

Jesus said that the way to pray is to pray with the same dedication of a widow who cannot get justice from an unjust judge. She keeps coming back to ask that he hear her case. Finally, the unjust judge settles her case, just to get her out of his life (Luke 18:1-5). God is a perfectly just judge. But if He says this is the way to pray, then we should do it.

Repeated prayers are not for His sake. He hears every prayer the first time. From the number of times we come back to Him, He sees how serious we are about whatever it is we are praying about. Praying is for our sake. Will we stick with it? How serious are we, anyway?

I am not asking you to pray for an hour a day, or a half hour, or even five minutes. I am asking for one minute per day for a month. You can keep praying for another month, of course. But will you commit for a month? Are teenagers in Possum Kingdom worth that?

A Prayer for God's Blessing on Possum Kingdom

The following psalm expresses my desire for my neighbors that they may live under the peaceful and just rule of God in Christ Jesus.
Psalm 67
God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause his face to shine upon us; Selah. That thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations. Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for thou shalt judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth. Selah. Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us. God shall bless us; and all the ends of the earth shall fear him.
